About MES

Myanmar Maritime Excellent Stars Co. Ltd was established in year 2013 and aims to assist Myanmar maritime industry. As the first step the company established Maritime Training Centre which is named as Myanmar Excellent Stars-Maritime Training Centre (MES-MTC). Myanmar Excellent Stars – Maritime Training Center (MES-MTC) was changed to the name of Myanmar Excellent Stars – Maritime Training Institute (MES-MTI) on 15-May-2019.

Ministry of Transport is the authority to management and administrates the maritime transportation in Myanmar, which includes seafaring, ship managing/ operations, registration of ships and last but not least closely monitoring the safety of life at sea. To ensure the effective implementation of the above activities Ministry of Transport has assigned the different tasks to the different departments under it charge.

Although Myanmar Maritime University and Myanmar Mercantile Marine College are taking care of training of Myanmar seafarers, and Ministry of Transport under the guidance of the Government’s policy admit private training centers in the maritime education sector to assist in the improvement of quality of seafarers.

The first priority of MES is to draw up all teaching syllabuses to meet international standard and latest IMO’s STCW, as amendments, requirements. The experienced Master Mariners, Chief Engineers, retired Lecturers from Yangon University are delivering the seafarer training courses at MES.

MES was commenced first course (Deck Officer Class-III (OOW) Course) on 18th-February-2013 and continued other courses in progress. 

Department of Marine Administration inspected & primarily approved MES to conduct the following maritime training courses:

  • Deck Officer Class-I Training Course;
  • Deck Officer Class-II (Combined) Training Course; and
  • Deck Officer Class-III Training Course
